Carroll Campbell Releases 10-Point Jobs Plan & Launches TOUGH JOBS Tour

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, April 19, 2010

CHARLESTON, SC - Carroll Campbell today released his 10-point Jobs and Economic Growth Plan while noting that South Carolina currently ranks in the top 6 in the nation in unemployment.

"Our state faces a jobs problem; we must change course and start creating jobs in South Carolina and right here in this District. Now is not the time to send politicians to Washington just to create more government. We need to change government to operate more like a business. I have created jobs - I created more than 500 jobs right here in this district in the restaurant business. I know how to successfully run a business, create jobs, and meet a payroll," Campbell said.

Campbell's detailed 10-point plan is available for download here:

Campbell's plan uses an innovative approach to tax reduction to spur hiring, an approach he first announced in District speeches last year. It also focuses on improving the transportation infrastructure of the District and conservative-based policies to allow the government to help, not hinder, job growth.

In unveiling the plan, Campbell also began the first leg of his new, special 2010 TOUGH DISTRICT JOBS Tour. In stops during the tour, Campbell will work directly in local businesses throughout the district doing tough, dirty work needed to keep our businesses going everyday.

Today, Campbell worked in a restaurant busing tables, washing dishes in the kitchen, and serving patrons in the restaurant.

TOMORROW on the 2010 TOUGH DISTRICT JOBS Tour, Campbell will be in Myrtle Beach highlighting the tourism industry. Campbell will be working with maintenance and housekeeping at the Atlantica Resort located at 1700 N. Ocean Blvd., Myrtle Beach at 11:00 AM.

Media are invited to tape and photograph Campbell working here as well.

Other stops already planned include: installing hardwood floors in Charleston to highlight the construction and renovation industries, gutting fish for a seafood packaging company to highlight the fishing industry, working with a transportation company to get goods in and out of our ports, and doing the tough work required to maintain shipping and boating lanes with a dredging company.

These tour dates and other stops will be announced in the coming days and weeks.
