CAMPBELL STATEMENT ON HENRY BROWN'S WITHDRAWAL FROM THE CONGRESSIONAL RACE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: JANUARY 4, 2010 CONTACT: BRENT LITTLEFIELD

Charleston, SC - Carroll Campbell, III - small businessman, former Ports Authority Board Officer, and son of former South Carolina Governor Carroll Campbell - has released the following statement:

"Late last evening, I received word that Henry Brown would not seek re-election to Congress.

As a personal donor and supporter of Mr. Brown's previous runs for public office, I appreciate the fact that Henry is putting his state and his party first in this decision. I also want to thank Congressman Brown for his service to South Carolina and the Republican Party.

According to news sources, Henry is retiring to spend more time with his family and I wish him all of the best.

The people of South Carolina are looking for new leadership - a new face - to move us forward and to eliminate wasteful spending, create jobs, and promote conservative values in Washington. That is the reason I started my run for Congress early last year and why South Carolina conservatives are joining my campaign."
