Carroll Campbell Makes His Bid for Strong,
New, Conservative Leadership in Congress
Official
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, March 24, 2010
COLUMBIA, SC - After a year of campaigning and speaking with voters across South Carolina's First District, Carroll Campbell made his campaign official on Wednesday as he filed as a candidate for Congress.
"I have met with citizens and leaders across the First District, I have listened to them, and I know the needs of our community. As a businessman who has employed more than 500 people in this district, I know that to improve our economy we need to lower taxes, remove regulations, and promote our entrepreneurial spirit," said Campbell "I know that to create jobs right here in this district, we must promote our ports, our outdoor heritage, and our workers."
Campbell has stood strong in opposition to massive government spending, bailouts, and takeovers conducted by the current Congress.
"Electing more lifelong politicians will not solve the problems in our country. We need a new direction and a new course. I look forward to putting my business skills and my commitment to conservative principles to work for South Carolina and our nation," he added.
"We must take control out of the hands of the liberal Democrats who don't know the value of a dollar," said Campbell. "As was shown by the recent health care vote, Washington is completely out of touch with Americans. It's time to hold elected officials and bureaucrats accountable to their actions."
Campbell has been a strong advocate for our veterans and fulfilling promises made to them. He recognizes that we are in a real war against terror and we must support our military.
"We must properly equip, train, and protect our troops to ensure that those in harm's way - here and abroad - are safe," said Campbell. "We must change the attitude in Washington that wants to give terrorists the rights that only should be afforded to American citizens."
Campbell concluded, "I am ready to be your next Congressman. I am ready to be the Conservative voice for the First District. I will fight for jobs, for our workers, and for the common-sense principles we embrace."
Carroll Campbell is a businessman who has employed over 500 people across South Carolina’s First District. He served as Treasurer and Secretary of the South Carolina State Ports Authority's Board of Directors. Serving on past and current Boards of Directors for the South Carolina Economic Development Association, the University of South Carolina's Board of Visitors, the Newberry College Board of Trustees, the Richland Memorial Hospital Center for Cancer Treatment, Ducks Unlimited, and as Past Chairman of the Palmetto Alzheimer's Association; Carroll Campbell has been a leader in the state of South Carolina.
